As humans, we are often plagued by existential questions, finding ourselves deep in thought about life's meaning and purpose. These philosophical queries might arise from our everyday experiences, moments of solitude, or during periods of radical change. They force us to confront the raw reality of our existence and compel us to seek answers. The more we explore, the more multi-layered these questions become, revealing the complexity and interwoven reality of our existence. This endless string of questions and search for certainty may feel overwhelming, but it also holds the beauty of human curiosity and our relentless pursuit of understanding our purpose in the universe.
Often, we underestimate the power of a simple nod, a firmly held gaze, or a warm, unwavering smile. These quiet gestures often speak louder than the most eloquent speech, carrying immense emotional weight. Non-verbal cues form a universal language, crossing boundaries of geography, culture or language. They can bridge divides, bring comfort, or convey solidarity without saying a single word. Many times, it's these silent gestures that carve deep impresses onto the canvas of our relationships, subtly asserting their influence over spoken or written words.
Filled with a vast diversity of life, forests trigger bewitching curiosity and wonder. Each one is a natural labyrinth, its deep green canopy, vibrant wildlife, mysterious sounds, and enchanting fragrances weaving a captivating tale. The air hums with life and energy, unanticipated and untouched, fueling the explorer's spirit. Despite being intimidating with its obscurity and possible dangers, forests strongly pull individuals towards themselves, coaxing them to unravel their secrets. It’s a journey with every step - each discovery more exciting than the last. The lure of the mysterious forest is an echo of our primal instinct to explore, our innate connection to nature, and our eternal fascination with the unknown.
For this UV-protective formulation we have opted to use a combination of oil-soluble—Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate, Ethylhexyl Triazone, Bis-ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine—and water-soluble—Methylene Bis-Benzotriazolyl Tetramethylbutylphenol—organic (chemical) UV filters in order to achieve balanced, broad-spectrum UV protection. Two of these UV filters are new to Aesop—Ethylhexyl Triazone and Methylene Bis-Benzotriazolyl Tetramethylbutylphenol. As well as our own stringent ingredient checks, all UV filters utilised as active ingredients in sunscreen products are subject to comprehensive safety and toxicological review by regulatory agencies around the globe.
A crucial consideration for any sun care formulation is the coverage it offers, across the full UVA and UVB spectrum, and when formulating sunscreens, the aim is to select UV filters with different absorbance profiles (UVB, UVA or broad-spectrum) in order to reach both the desired ‘range’ of protection as well as the desired ‘level’ of UV protection (whether low, medium or high). This is not always easy or straightforward to achieve with the limited array of globally approved UV filters, and we have sought to offer this high-protection, broad-spectrum SPF50 formulation in as many of our global markets as possible.
The recommended storage conditions for this product are for temperatures no higher than 30°C. A higher temperature—such as in a hot car—may compromise the effectiveness of the UV filters and therefore the sun protection offered. The labelling information for existing sunscreens listed with the Australian Therapeutic Goods Association (Protective Facial Lotion SPF25, Protective Lip Balm SPF30, Protective Body Lotion SPF50) will be updated to match this new recommendation for Protective Facial Lotion SPF50.
